The Swagger Van

It's official. I'm now a minivan mom. We are selling our beloved VW wagon to some lucky guy today. We will enjoy the extra space and all the conveniences, but we'll miss our sporty little TDI wagon. It makes us feel a little old too, but the surf boards do fit better on the van.

Precious moments

Sydney and Grace being sweet
I caught Syd in a perfect moment of childhood bliss and oblivion. She was leaning back singing a little song as she ate her snack while wearing a creative outfit she put together.
I love this shy smile as she caught me taking pictures.
We love our time at the community garden. Sydney's favorite job is watering with her tiny watering can. Today we found little squash and zucchini that should be ready by next week. We also feasted on strawberries and raspberries right off the bush.
GG also loves the garden, but we have to keep the pacifier in as much as we can or she just tries to eat anything she can get her hands on. That includes rocks, dirt, manure, leaves etc. I saw she had a morsel in her mouth the other day and fished out what I thought was a rock. When it hit the ground, it started to move and I realized it was a rolly polli bug! I know, gross, but she's so cute!

New Tricks

GG is at such a fun stage right now and seems to learn something new every week. The biggest news is she is now walking. Well, toddling around, but getting braver and better every day. Here's some footage from a couple of weeks ago.

Easter eggs

The kids got their fill of Easter eggs this year. We hid eggs around the house at least a dozen times, we dyed eggs with friends and we went to two outdoor egg hunts.A couple in our congregation owns a putt putt golf range and hosts an egg hunt every year for all the kids at church.
Last year Sydney was slow to catch on, but this year she was on it.
triumphant having found all 12 of her eggs

Enjoying her spoils with buddies William and Weston

GG was content just to crawl around and try to eat dandelions
Sydney really got into the candy this year and was on a total sugar high
Maybe thats why she was being so goofy here
We also had an Egg hunt with all the kids in our neighborhood
Our kids are not into posing for pics

Look at this ham.

Grace update

GG was being so cute at bath time, I'm so glad she's such a happy girl.Grace is growing so fast. I can't believe she will be one next month! She still only has one tooth, but she has tons of hair and some great tricks. She took her first steps last week and loves to walk around the house and neighborhood pushing her walking toy. She waves and claps, kisses and if you're lucky, she'll show you where her nose is.

What we've been up to

I feel like people keep asking me what we've been up to and I have nothing to say. We haven't been doing anything spectacular, but we have been having fun on lots of little outings.
Happy Campers, GG wakes up happy on her 2nd family camp out.
Squid zipped in with Dad
playing hide and seek in her PJs
I went to a culinary class in the city with some girl friends and learned how to make some tasty new dishes

Happy Hollow with her buddy Millie

Dancing to the music at the farmers market while munching on a stalk of broccoli (magical things happen at the farmers market).
I got to go home solo for a big Prina party. Both Matt and Rob home from their missions and my Mom's 60th birthday. My sister Lisa compiled a beautiful book about my mothers life with lots of pictures and stories written by each of us kids, it was beautiful. This is a pic of my mom opening her gifts and pouring over the book. I love it because none of them were looking, but it shows the fun and the chaos.
Matt&Rob, still looking a lot like elders, with two of my nieces Audrey and Anna.
My last stop on my way out was to see the newest additions to the Johnson family. Here is Dan holding his sweet new daughters.

New bed and some real spring weather

As of February Sydney is officially potty-trained and we got her a "big-girl bed". It's actually a tiny little toddler bed, but it fits her perfectly and it's cute how much she loves it.
We have had some beautiful warm days and loved being out in the sun.
Syd wanted a picture of her holding GG, but it was harder than she thought. It's tough when your "little" sister has thunder thighs like this. Oh, I love those thighs!
Grace is so mobile now and is constantly finding new things to explore. She loves to climb up all the stairs in our house and is getting pretty fast.
just hanging out
Happy little BYU fan-Go Jimmers!
Sydney is really into Legos which makes me happy because I loved them as a kid too. I have the best memories of playing with my dad. He always made the most amazing things out of Legos, so now it's so fun to play with my own little munchkin. Here is a castle we built together that she was so proud of.
