Lazy Saturday

We have been so busy lately, so when we found ourselves with an open Saturday we decided to take it slow. We started at the tide pools in Half Moon Bay with star fish and sea anemone. I love how nervous Syd looks with the star fish!



Then we drove up past the city to the Italian street painting fair in San Rafael. We saw some really impressive artists and hung out downtown.


We ended the day at Greyhound beach with beautiful views.

She's walking!

Sydney took her first steps in May when we were in Utah, but we haven't been able to capture any of her waddling on film. She makes it clear she doesn't perform and promptly sits down or just stops the second we bring out the camera-until now...

The Big One

Sydney had her first birthday June 3rd. Where does the time go?
We had a little party with our big girl and some buddies.

We discovered that Sydney loves teething biscuits. We give her one and she is silent until it is finished-total focus on the devouring of the biscuit. We gave her one today and she was quiet until the very end when I heard a yelp and discovered she had chewed until she bit her own fingers!

Syd's trip to the salon

Sydney really needed a haircut. She has had a few home trims by mom, grandma prina and dad to manage the mullet, but this was her first real hair cut at a salon just for kids. Syd sat in a little red race car for the event. At first she was a bit bewildered,

Then she settled in with her Elmo magazine.


The result-no more mullet!

May Utah trip

Bad rains and flash floods ruined our long-planned back packing trip to Escalante in southern Utah, but we still had a great time on our visit. We left Syd with her grandparents for 24 hrs and hiked Mt Olympus, hit up the movies and had dinner out. All big luxuries to those not used to having grandparent babysitting. Thanks Pam & Wynn!

We got to see my side of the family too. Val and Eric had a big BBQ with my parents. We had so much fun. Sydney loves to play with her cousins.

Since we won't be together for Sydney's first birthday, Valerie threw Syd a little surprise party with tasty cupcakes. Sydney got to practice for her California party, mmm

This was Sydney's first trip to the beach where she was old enough to really enjoy it. She had so many of her favorite things at the beach; water, lots of dogs, her favorite people and a new favorite, sand.

Sydney is so close to walking. She wants to walk while holding our hands all the time. She'll come and grab our hands to get us to help her. Here's a picture of her dragging Pete around the neighborhood.

Summer
