Creative kid

We got a Little Tykes car for Christmas and we found Syd tying our little wheely bug to it by a string so she can give GG rides all over the house.
This was the main source of entertainment in our house the first couple weeks of the new year and it was hilarious!
Sydney has also become a little artist. She's just figuring out how to make little people and animals and then gives them to Pete and I as presents. Here is a dinosaur she made on her magna-doodle-I know I'm biased, but I love it!

Christmas in Utah

Our trip to Hawaii was exactly what we needed in early Dec, because the rest of the month was crazy. Fun, but crazy. We got home from Oahu on a Sunday and moved the next Sat. Then rushed to clean up our old place. We didn't really even unpack in our new place before leaving for our drive to Utah on Thurs. It was pretty hectic getting everything done. The drive was long and we hadn't had the chance to do anything Christmas-y. So when we finally got to Utah we all felt like this:
Hooray it's Christmas!
My parents and little bros Matt and Rob
The fam as we left for early church Christmas morning
The kids were really patient to wait until after church to open presents, but then they got down to business.

Syd and Kyler played with his race cars for basically the rest of the day. They are so cute!
Syd with cousin Emma
The Johnson family Christmas talent show-a tradition that I love
Grandma and Grandpa Johnson brought Hawaii to Utah for all the grandkids complete with sunglasses and hair bows.
We went ice-skating with my family and the kids loved it. Look at those tiny skates on Grace!
Grandpa and Sierra with GG and Ellie
Syd and Kyler skating it up-these kid walker things are genius!
GG and Grandma
My family spoiled me by hanging out together all day on my birthday, it was so fun to be surrounded by family and seeing our kids love it all. It was a great ending to a great year.

Hawaii

Pete's parents took an opportunity to teach at BYUH this year so we decided we needed to go visit. His brother Ben and his family decided to come too so it was a party! We left the first weekend in Dec and crammed a ton of fun into our eight days there. We got to do lots of fun hikes
Syd and GG bush-whacking
Beach time
My in-laws were so sweet to watch the kids a few times so we could do some things on our own. Date night, the temple and this beautiful and rather tough hike where we had to do some major bush-whacking and my legs got so scratched up.
We had a great day at Hanauma Bay and Grandma Pam even found kid sized snorkel gear!

A huge swell blew in while we were there so we got to watch a surf competition at the pipeline. I loved it and we would have stayed longer, but poor Syd was terrified of the enormous waves and so worried about the surfers and anyone else who got close to the water. It was sad, but kind of funny.
These two cousins became best buds on the trip and were so cute-Grace even learned to say "Andrew" after a couple days.
Another beautiful hike-we were blessed with clear skies

Thanks to Wynn and Pam for being the best hosts, taking such good care of us and showing us all the best places to eat. We might just have to come back!
